His CrossFit Story
Coach Chip is an active-duty Army officer hailing from Atlanta, Georgia. As a seasoned paratrooper with multiple operational deployments, his body has accumulated the injuries and scars from decades of service.In the midst of a transformative moment during an airborne training mission, Coach Chip endured a traumatic brain injury that prompted deep self-reflection on his overall well-being. "I could feel my body deteriorating, and my health with it," he recalls.
First discovering CrossFit within the Special Operations community, Coach Chip was not only drawn to its transformative power but also to the inclusive and diverse community it fostered—a melting pot of individuals on a collective journey of self-improvement.
Describing the CrossFit experience as both "pre-habilitation" and therapeutic, Coach Chip recognized its ability to enhance fitness, reduce injuries, and foster a sense of communal support. "They called it pre-habilitation because it increased fitness and reduced injury, but it was also therapeutic and communal," he notes.

Motivated by a desire to help others regain self-confidence and embrace their limitless potential, he became a coach. With over 12 years integrating functional fitness into military physical training, he not only brings a wealth of knowledge but also a lighthearted sense of humor to coaching. Beyond the uniform, you'll find him immersed in Olympic lifting and enjoying moments with his family, all of whom share a passion for CrossFit. Coach Chip embodies not only a dedication to holistic well-being but also brings a refreshing touch of humor to inspire and uplift those he coaches.
